Puzzle swaps its usage-gated free tier for a two-month promo and makes entry-tier AI credits lifetime-only
Puzzle dropped the '$20k transaction volume' free-tier trigger for a footnote reading 'Starter is free for 2 months', and relabelled Starter/Core AI credits as lifetime rather than recurring.
Starter $0 with the footnote 'Starter plan is free until $20k of transaction volume'; Starter and Core each listed '25 credits'; tier AI rows read 'Chat and insights' / 'Chat, insights, agents'.
Starter $0 against a struck-through $25 list price with '100% off for 2 months' and the footnote 'Starter is free for 2 months'; Starter and Core list '25 credits life time'; every tier now lists Chat, Cowork (Coming soon) and Close, plus AI Close as an add-on.
Puzzle’s headline subscription prices did not move — Starter $0, Core $30/mo, Complete $50/mo and Scale from $150/mo billed annually ($36 / $60 / $180 on monthly billing) are unchanged from the June 2026 capture. What changed is the entitlement wrapper around them.
The most consequential edit is a single footnote. Until June the pricing page carried ”** Starter plan is free until $20k of transaction volume” — a genuine usage threshold that let a pre-revenue company stay on real books indefinitely. That line is gone. In its place: ”** Starter is free for 2 months,” paired with a struck-through $25 list price and a “100% off for 2 months” badge on the card. The free tier has moved from a volume gate to a time-boxed promotion, which converts Puzzle’s land-and-expand wedge into a conventional intro discount.
The second change is quieter but pulls the same direction: Starter and Core now read “25 credits life time” where they previously read “25 credits”. The two cheapest tiers no longer refill their AI allowance monthly — only Complete (100 credits / month) and Scale (300 credits / month) do. Combined, the two edits push AI-hungry entry-tier users toward Complete faster.
Alongside these, Puzzle launched its AI Suite: the site banner now reads “Puzzle AI Suite is now available, including AI Close Agents for Accountants,” and every pricing card lists the same capability row — Chat, Cowork (labelled “Coming soon”) and Close — with AI Close still carried as a separately-priced add-on on all four tiers.
Headline prices held ($0/$30/$50/$150 annual), but the entitlements around them changed: the '$20k transaction volume' free-tier footnote was replaced by 'Starter is free for 2 months' against a struck-through $25, and Starter/Core credits were relabelled '25 credits life time' with no monthly refill. Puzzle also launched its AI Suite, putting Chat / Cowork (Coming soon) / Close on every card with AI Close still a paid add-on.
