Braintrust renames 'Topics credit' to 'Model credits', drops GLM-5.2's sunset date
Braintrust renamed its 'Topics credit' to a shared 'Model credits' pool and quietly dropped GLM-5.2's July 31, 2026 sunset date, making it a standing feature.
Pricing page and docs called the pool a 'Topics credit'; the billing FAQ and Plans and limits page stated GLM-5.2's built-in access ran 'through July 31, 2026,' after which no continuation was documented.
Pool renamed 'Model credits' on the pricing page and docs; the FAQ answer for GLM-5.2 drops the July 31, 2026 clause entirely, and the pricing page swaps its explicit per-tier token-rate line for a generic 'then token rates' plus a new 'View detailed pricing, including model and token rates' link.

One day before its own stated cutoff, Braintrust quietly removed the expiration date on GLM-5.2’s built-in-model access. As of the 2026-07-22 capture, the billing FAQ and the “Plans and limits” docs page both said GLM-5.2 — an open-source reasoning model offered without requiring a customer’s own API key — was available “through July 31, 2026,” after which no continuation was promised. The 2026-07-30 capture shows that sentence gone from both surfaces; the FAQ now simply says GLM-5.2 “is available as a built-in model under the Braintrust provider,” full stop.
The change rides alongside a naming shift: the credit pool that funds Topics (Braintrust’s AI-powered pipeline) and GLM-5.2 was renamed from “Topics credit” to “Model credits” across the pricing page, the billing FAQ, and the docs rate card, which now presents Topics and GLM-5.2 as two rows of one “Model credits” table instead of a “Topics usage” section plus a separate time-boxed “GLM-5.2 usage” section. The main pricing page also stopped printing its per-tier “$0.06/mtok input, $0.40/mtok output” line directly on the plan cards, replacing it with a generic “then token rates” and a new “View detailed pricing, including model and token rates” link.
No rate changed: Topics overage stays $0.06/mtok input and $0.40/mtok output on every tier, GLM-5.2 overage stays $1.40/mtok input, $0.26/mtok cached input and $4.40/mtok output, and the $0 / $249 / custom tier fees are untouched. The Pro plan’s separate promotion — a $249 included credit dropping to $100/month on September 1, 2026 — is also unaffected. What changed is packaging: a second built-in model that read as a time-limited trial now reads as a durable part of the plan.
The pricing page and docs renamed the 'Topics credit' line to 'Model credits' to reflect that the pool now funds two built-in models, and removed the previously published 'through July 31, 2026' end date on GLM-5.2's built-in access from both the billing FAQ and the Plans and limits page. Per-token rates for Topics ($0.06/$0.40 per Mtok) and GLM-5.2 ($1.40/$0.26/$4.40 per Mtok) are unchanged, as are all tier fees.
