Claude Opus 5 launches as Anthropic's new flagship coding model
Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 5 as the featured flagship model on claude.com/pricing, at the same $5/$25 per-MTok input/output rate as Opus 4.8, which now moves to the page's Legacy models list.

Anthropic’s claude.com/pricing API tab now headlines Claude Opus 5 — described as “ideal for complex agentic coding and enterprise work” — alongside Claude Fable 5, Claude Sonnet 5, and Claude Haiku 4.5 as the four current-generation models shown at the top of the page. Opus 5 carries the exact per-token rate Opus 4.8 held: $5/MTok input, $6.25/MTok for 5-minute prompt-cache writes, $0.50/MTok for cache reads, and $25/MTok output. Opus 4.8 has been repositioned into the page’s “Legacy models” section next to Opus 4.7, Opus 4.6, and Opus 4.5 — all of which remain live at the same $5/$25 rate.
Claude Sonnet 5 ($2/$10 introductory through August 31, 2026; $3/$15 standard after), Claude Fable 5 ($10/$50), and Claude Haiku 4.5 ($1/$5) are unchanged from the prior capture, as are the Free/Pro ($17 annual, $20 monthly)/Max (from $100/mo) individual plans and the Team ($20-$100/seat/mo) and Enterprise ($20/seat + usage) plans. Because the new flagship carries over its predecessor’s price, this is a model-lineup change rather than a price move — Anthropic added a SKU without changing what the top Opus tier costs.
Claude Opus 5 replaced Opus 4.8 as the featured flagship model on both claude.com/pricing and the Anthropic API rate card, at the identical $5/$25 per-MTok input/output rate. Opus 4.8 remains available, now listed as a legacy model alongside Opus 4.7, 4.6, and 4.5 (all still $5/$25). Free/Pro/Max individual pricing and Team/Enterprise seat pricing are unchanged.
