Google adds AlphaEvolve agent as a billed SKU on Vertex AI

Google pricing

Google added AlphaEvolve, the DeepMind evolutionary coding agent, to Vertex AI pricing, billed as the Gemini model rate plus a 2x agent surcharge (3x all-in), e.g. 6 USD / 36 USD per 1M on Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview.

Before

Vertex AI billed Gemini models on Standard/Priority/Flex token rates only; no AlphaEvolve line item.

After

AlphaEvolve agent priced as base Gemini model plus a 2x agent surcharge (total 3x base): Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview 6 USD/1M input, 36 USD/1M output; Gemini 3.5 Flash 4.50 USD/1M input, 27 USD/1M output.

The Vertex AI generative-AI pricing page gained a new AlphaEvolve agent SKU during the week of 2026-07-14. AlphaEvolve is the DeepMind evolutionary coding/optimization agent, and it is billed as a composite of two charges: the underlying Gemini model standard token rate plus a separate AlphaEvolve agent surcharge equal to 2x the base model rate. The all-in cost is therefore 3x the standard model price.

Two underlying models are published:

  • Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview — 2 USD model + 4 USD agent = 6 USD per 1M input tokens; 12 USD model + 24 USD agent = 36 USD per 1M output/thinking tokens.
  • Gemini 3.5 Flash — 1.50 USD model + 3 USD agent = 4.50 USD per 1M input tokens; 9 USD model + 18 USD agent = 27 USD per 1M output/thinking tokens.

Headline Gemini API and Vertex AI token prices were verified unchanged versus the 2026-07-06 capture, and the consumer Google AI Plus / Pro / Ultra subscription lineup was also unchanged. The AlphaEvolve addition is the only new billable line item this run.

AlphaEvolve agent added to Vertex AI pricing

Google added AlphaEvolve, DeepMind's evolutionary coding/optimization agent, as a separately-billed agentic SKU on the Vertex AI pricing page. Its cost is the underlying Gemini model rate plus an AlphaEvolve agent surcharge (agent = 2× base model, so the all-in total is 3× standard): e.g. Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview totals $6/1M input and $36/1M output; Gemini 3.5 Flash totals $4.50/1M input and $27/1M output. Headline Gemini API and Vertex token prices were verified unchanged vs 2026-07-06; the consumer AI Plus/Pro/Ultra lineup was also unchanged.
