Poolside launches open-weight Laguna models with public per-token pricing

Poolside spent its first two years as a pure enterprise/government model lab: no pricing page, no free tier, no self-serve path — every contract was sales-quoted around per-developer seats, dedicated compute, and embedded research engineers. That changed in July 2026 with the release of the open-weight Laguna model family, which gave the company its first publicly visible prices.

Laguna XS 2.1 (33B-A3B parameters, 262K context) shipped July 2 and is listed on OpenRouter at $0.06 input / $0.12 output per 1M tokens — flagged as a “40% off” launch rate. Laguna S 2.1 (118B total / 8B active parameters, 1M context) followed July 21 at $0.10 / $0.20 per 1M tokens. Both models are open-weight under the OpenMDW-1.1 license, downloadable from Hugging Face, and reachable through a new terminal coding agent called pool, which Poolside is offering free “for a limited time” during its preview period. The company’s poolside.ai/enterprise page now redirects to the homepage — folded into a single site that leads with the open-weight launch — while /pricing still 404s and the Government sales page continues to operate unchanged.

The net effect: Poolside now runs two pricing motions side by side — a still fully sales-quoted enterprise/government contract business, and a brand-new self-serve, per-token API business priced transparently through third-party marketplaces rather than its own site.
