Paycom launches Beti, and packages its flagship AI into the base product
Beti gives employees the job of reviewing, troubleshooting and approving their own paychecks before payroll is submitted. On the current Core-vs-Complete matrix it is ticked for both columns, so Paycom's most-marketed automation carries no upsell, no tier gate and no meter.
Payroll was processed for employees by an HR or payroll administrator, with errors surfacing after the run as voids, reversals and corrections.
Employees review and approve their own checks before submission. Beti appears in the Payroll matrix ticked for Core and for Complete — the minimum package every Paycom client buys includes it.
Beti is the clearest packaging decision on Paycom’s surface, and it runs opposite to most of the AI monetisation in this corpus.
The product itself inverts the payroll workflow: rather than an administrator running payroll and discovering errors afterwards, employees are guided to view, troubleshoot and approve their own paycheck through the Paycom mobile app before the run is submitted. Paycom’s own framing on the Beti page is that this eliminates “voids, reversals and corrections,” and that a client can “process a final payout without incurring additional base or service fees.”
The pricing consequence is the interesting part. Paycom’s pricing page splits five product lines into Core (described as “the minimum used by all Paycom clients”) and Complete. In the Payroll matrix, “Beti® automated payroll” carries a green check in both columns — alongside general ledger, payroll tax management and filing, and the Vault Visa payroll card. Check reconciliation, daily pay, expense management and garnishment administration are the Complete-only rows. The AI is in the floor of the product; the operational conveniences are the upsell.
Paycom attaches no meter to Beti — no per-payroll AI charge, no credit balance, no per-approval fee. The company’s two later AI launches follow the same pattern in different ways: GONE (December 2023) is monetised by tier gate, delivered through a Complete-only application, and IWant (July 2025) does not appear in the Core-vs-Complete matrix at all. Across three AI products over four years, Paycom has introduced no metered AI billing dimension.
