Sendbird withdraws its published AI Chatbot rate card — $99 and $499 plans replaced by a sales-only AI Agent page
The self-serve AI Chatbot ladder (Starter $99/month for 10,000 message credits, Pro $499/month for 50,000) and its published overage of $5 per 1,000 message credits disappeared from sendbird.com. The AI Chatbot tab became an unpriced AI Agent tab selling consumption-based pricing by quote.
sendbird.com/pricing/ai-chatbot published a four-card ladder: a free trial with 1,000 message credits, Starter at $99/month for 10,000 message credits per month, Pro at $499/month for 50,000, and Enterprise by quote — with a footnote publishing the overage rate, '$5 overage fee will be applied for every 1,000 message credit', and a model-weighted credit table (archived 2024-12-07; the Chat pricing page still showed an AI Chatbot tab on 2025-01-30).
sendbird.com/pricing defaults to an 'AI Agent' tab carrying no prices: 'Consumption-based pricing / Volume discounts as you scale / Tailored professional services', with a contact form. Sendbird's own FAQ on that page reads: 'Sendbird offers flexible, consumption-based pricing tailored to your business size and conversation volume. Custom quotes are available upon request.' (archived 2025-04-17).
Sendbird’s only published AI rate card lasted about eleven months.
In May 2024 the company shipped sendbird.com/pricing/ai-chatbot with genuine self-serve prices: a 30-day free trial carrying 1,000 message credits, AI Chatbot Starter at $99/month for 10,000 monthly message credits, AI Chatbot Pro at $499/month for 50,000, and Enterprise by quote. Unusually for the category, it also published the overage: “$5 overage fee will be applied for every 1,000 message credit.” A model-weighted credit table sat alongside it, charging 1 credit per bot message for GPT-3.5-turbo, GPT-4o, Llama 3 and Solar, and more for larger models.
By the 17 April 2025 archive snapshot the page and its prices were gone. The AI Chatbot tab on sendbird.com/pricing had been replaced by an AI Agent tab which became the default landing tab and carried no numbers at all — only “Consumption-based pricing”, “Volume discounts as you scale” and “Tailored professional services” above a contact form. The last snapshot showing the priced AI Chatbot tab is 30 January 2025, so the withdrawal falls in that window.
Two details make this more than a page edit. First, the withdrawn artifact included an overage rate, which is the hardest number for a buyer to obtain and the one Sendbird has also declined to publish for Chat MAU since 2016. Second, the replacement explicitly removes the evaluation path: the AI Agent FAQ states “While we don’t offer a free trial, you can contact us for a personalized demo.” A product that could be bought with a credit card and sized against a published credit rate became a product that cannot be priced without a sales conversation.
The AI product later left sendbird.com entirely, relaunching on its own brand and domain as Delight.ai on 18 November 2025.
The $99 and $499 AI Chatbot plans and the $5-per-1,000-credit overage rate disappear. The AI Chatbot tab is replaced by an AI Agent tab that becomes the default landing tab of sendbird.com/pricing and carries no prices at all — only "Consumption-based pricing / Volume discounts as you scale / Tailored professional services" and a contact form. Sendbird's own FAQ on that page states: "Sendbird offers flexible, consumption-based pricing tailored to your business size and conversation volume. Custom quotes are available upon request." This is the second time Sendbird has withdrawn a published rate card. Source: web.archive.org snapshots 20250130111316 and 20250417115642.
