Sendbird Chat splits into annual-versus-monthly pricing — Starter 5K at $349 annual / $399 monthly
Both published Chat prices were restated as an annual headline with a monthly premium printed beneath: Starter 5K at $349/month billed annually or $399/month billed monthly, Pro 5K at $499 or $599. The monthly figures are unchanged since 2023, so this is a roughly 12.5% annual-commitment discount rather than a price cut. The bundled PLATFORM OFFER simultaneously dropped its AI chatbot credits.
Single monthly prices with no annual option shown: Starter 5K at $399/month and Pro 5K at $599/month, both marked 'Overages may apply', with a PLATFORM OFFER panel worth '$122/month value' covering '30K free in-app messages' of Business messaging plus '1K free message credits' of AI chatbot (archived 2025-01-30).
Dual-cadence pricing in one card: Starter 5K '$349/month — Billed annually, or $399/month billed monthly'; Pro 5K '$499/month — Billed annually, or $599/month billed monthly'. The PLATFORM OFFER panel keeps its '$122/month value / 30K free in-app messages' of Business messaging and drops the AI chatbot credit line (archived 2025-11-29).
Sendbird’s Chat ladder gained an annual-commitment discount somewhere between 30 January 2025 and 29 November 2025. The Wayback Machine holds no /pricing/chat capture between those two dates, so the exact change date is unknown; this entry is dated to the first snapshot in which the new structure is visible.
The mechanic is a discount, not a repricing. The monthly rates — $399 for Starter 5K and $599 for Pro 5K — are unchanged from the March 2023 snapshot. What is new is the annual rate printed as the headline: $349 and $499, roughly 12.5% and 16.7% below the monthly cadence. The card carries both cadences at once; there is no annual/monthly toggle, so the premium for paying monthly is visible on every plan without interaction. The same structure holds up the ladder: at 10K MAU the steps read $429 annual against $519 monthly (Starter) and $579 against $699 (Pro); at 25K, $1,119 against $1,349 and $1,399 against $1,649. The 50K and 100K+ slider steps replace both figures with “Contact sales.”
The quieter half of the change is a bundle deletion. Through December 2024 and January 2025 the “PLATFORM OFFER” panel on every Chat card advertised two included products — 30,000 free Business Messaging in-app messages and 1,000 free AI chatbot message credits — together framed as “$122/month value” at the 5K step. By the November 2025 capture the AI chatbot line is gone and only the Business Messaging allowance remains, at the same stated $122/month value. That is consistent with the AI product leaving the Sendbird platform bundle entirely: its published rate card was withdrawn in April 2025 and it relaunched on its own brand and domain as Delight.ai on 18 November 2025.
Neither change altered what Sendbird declines to publish. The card still reads “Overages may apply” without naming an overage rate, and Sendbird has not published a per-MAU or per-peak-connection overage price since 2016.
