Atlassian re-meters automation as "steps" and caps Enterprise automation

Atlassian’s pricing pages for Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management all switched their automation-allowance wording from “automation rule runs” to “automation steps” between the 2026-09-01 and 2026-09-07 captures, alongside restructured per-tier limits. The most consequential change is at the top of the ladder: Enterprise plans on all three products previously advertised “Unlimited automation rule runs” / “Unlimited automations,” and now show a specific numeric cap instead — Jira Enterprise reads “1,000 automation steps per user per month,” Confluence Enterprise “500 automation steps per user per month,” and Jira Service Management Enterprise “9,500 automation steps per user per month.” Standard and Premium tiers were re-based too (Jira Standard moved from “1,700 automation rule runs per month” to “400 automation steps per user per month”; Confluence Premium moved from a vague “10x more automations” bullet to a concrete “250 automation steps per user per month”). Atlassian’s licensing docs hub also added a new dedicated “Automation” navigation entry alongside the existing product pricing pages, consistent with a formal re-metering rather than a copy tweak. Seat prices were unchanged across all three products.
