Paylocity quietly stops listing payroll frequency as a pricing input — three years before making 'not per payroll run' a selling point

This is a two-word deletion with a four-year arc behind it.

On 10 November 2022, Paylocity’s pricing page at /our-products/pricing/ answered “How much does Paylocity cost?” by naming three pricing inputs — company size, frequency of payroll, and modules used. On the next archived capture, 2 December 2022, the phrase “frequency of payroll” is gone. A scan of every subsequent capture of the pricing page and the small-business pages through 8 September 2026 finds the phrase exactly zero more times.

What replaced it is the interesting part. Paylocity’s small-business payroll page — first archived 12 November 2025 — now answers the equivalent question this way:

“Unlike other providers, Paylocity charges per employee per month, not per payroll run, so there are no surprise fees for running payroll more often. And you don’t have to worry about upgrade costs or tiered pricing thresholds as you scale!”

So the company went from listing payroll frequency as one of the three things its quote depends on, to selling the absence of payroll-frequency billing as a competitive differentiator. Whether the underlying quoting model changed or only the copy did is not determinable from public sources: Paylocity has never published a rate on any surface, and the master Subscription Services Agreement and Order — where the actual fee schedule lives — are not public. The published Additional Service Terms contain no per-payroll-run charge, which is consistent with the current claim but says nothing about 2022.

Recorded here as a bounded copy change: the pricing-input list changed between 2022-11-10 and 2022-12-02, and the “not per payroll run” positioning is first observed on 2025-11-12.
