Paylocity launches Ignite AI — a platform-wide agent layer announced with no price, no tier gate and no add-on framing
Ignite AI adds named agents (Answer & Insight, Payroll Analysis, Candidate Fit, Resume Summary, Data Inspection, Time Correction) and an adoption-monitoring Ignite AI Hub. The launch release contains no statement about price, packaging, inclusion or fees — while Paylocity's own contract already meters AI usage as Recruiting and Absence Optimizer Actions with an allocation and an overage.
A dedicated /products/capabilities/ai/ page presenting AI as woven across HR, Finance and IT, with an Ignite AI Hub for leaders to monitor agent adoption and control which agents are active. No price, no tier gate, no 'included in' scope, no add-on language anywhere on the page or in the announcement.
Paylocity announced Paylocity Ignite AI on 21 July 2026 (Schaumburg, Illinois dateline). The release names a set of purpose-built agents — an Answer & Insight Agent for natural-language queries over workforce data, a Payroll Analysis Agent for anomaly detection, a Candidate Fit Agent, a Resume Summary Agent, a Data Inspection Agent and a Time Correction Agent — plus an Ignite AI Hub where leaders can monitor adoption, measure productivity impact, switch individual agents on and off, and identify further automation opportunities.
What the release does not contain is any pricing statement of any kind. No price, no cost, no fee, no “included at no additional charge”, no add-on, no tier gate. The product page at /products/capabilities/ai/ matches: it presents AI as a property of the platform rather than a SKU.
That is worth recording precisely because Paylocity’s own contract says otherwise. The Additional Service Terms — the Service Specific Terms PDF linked from /terms-and-conditions/ — define Recruiting Optimizer Actions (each automated screening, interview-scheduling, bulk candidate engagement or talent-rediscovery action) and Absence Optimizer Actions (“each leave request submission will be considered an action”) as metered units, allocated in the Order, with Paylocity reserving “the right to charge additional fees … or restrict” the feature once the allocation is exceeded.
So the AI is free on the marketing surface and metered in the contract. A buyer reading paylocity.com would have no way to learn that the AI features carry an action allocation at all, let alone what happens when it runs out.
The agent layer also has a build-and-buy history behind it: on 6 April 2026 Paylocity acquired Grayscale Labs, Inc., described in its FY2026 10-K as “an AI-powered recruiting automation company”, for cash consideration of roughly fifty million dollars — the capability that most directly underpins the metered Recruiting Optimizer Actions.
Paylocity announced Ignite AI — named agents for answers and insight, payroll analysis, candidate fit, resume summary, data inspection and time correction, plus an Ignite AI Hub for adoption monitoring. The release contains no price, no tier gate, no add-on language and no "included at no additional cost" claim.
