Workable Agent puts a per-candidate-action credit meter on the pricing page
Workable published a consumption meter for the first time since it retired per-job pricing: the Workable Agent charges 1 AI credit to evaluate a candidate, 2 to source one and 10 for a candidate chat, sold in prepaid bundles from $0.095 to $0.12 a credit.
The 2026-05-17 capture of workable.com/pricing shows Standard, Premier and Enterprise with add-on prices and no AI-credit section, no Workable Agent card and no per-action rate anywhere on the page.
The live page carries a 'Workable agent AI credits' section headed 'Pay for what the agent does. Nothing else.' It states 'The Agent consumes AI credits for each distinct action it takes on a candidate' — Evaluate at '1 AI credit each time a candidate is screened against your ideal candidate profile', Source at '2 AI credits each time a passive candidate is identified and added to your pipeline', and Chat at '10 AI credits each time a candidate interacts with the chat'. Bundles are 5,000 credits at $0.12 a credit ($600 total), 10,000 at $0.10 ($1,000) and 50,000 at $0.095 ($4,750), with 3,000 free credits on every paid account, credits that 'expire 1 year from purchase', are 'Non-refundable', and a free trial that 'does not include Workable Agent'.
Workable spent 2024 and 2025 selling a pure headcount-band subscription with no consumption line on the page at all. The Workable Agent puts one back, and it is the most granular meter the company has ever published: three named candidate actions, each with its own credit cost, on a prepaid bundle whose unit rate falls from $0.12 to $0.095 as the bundle grows.
The launch window is bounded. The last complete Internet Archive capture of workable.com/pricing without any AI-credit section is 2026-05-17; the meter is present in a first-party capture on 2026-09-10, the same day Workable announced a spend dashboard for it. The release states: “Workable, an AI-powered applicant tracking system (ATS) and all-in-one HR software platform, has released its AI Credits Report: a built-in dashboard that shows enterprises exactly how they are spending AI credits across every stage of recruiting and what each hire actually costs.” It adds: “The report is available immediately within Recruiting reports for all Workable plans at no additional cost, with no setup or IT involvement needed.” Captures between May and September are JavaScript shells that record nothing either way, so the exact ship date of the meter itself is unverified.
Two things about the meter are worth recording as facts rather than as criticism, because they contradict each other on Workable’s own surfaces.
First, the pricing page presents the per-action rates as a fixed table. The help-centre article Using the Workable Agent says the opposite: “The Sourcing, Screening, and Engagement Agents run on AI credits, and the number of AI credits an action uses can vary.”
Second, “AI credits” is now Workable’s second credit currency. The older one, Search with AI credits, is included with the subscription (Standard annual carries “12,000 Search with AI credits per year (or 1,000/month for a monthly commitment)”, Premier 20,000), is “shared across all users on your account”, refreshes “on your next billing date”, and costs 1 credit per profile result with a 30-day duplicate exemption. The new Workable Agent credits are bought in bundles, expire after a year and do not refresh. Both are called credits, both are consumed by AI features, and neither page cross-references the other.
