Twilio raised US SMS to $0.0083 a segment and lifted MMS inbound 65%

Twilio pricing

US SMS and MMS list rates moved up across long codes, toll-free and short codes, and the published automatic volume ladder rebased $0.0004 higher at every tier.

Before

US SMS $0.0079 per segment outbound and inbound on long codes, toll-free and short codes; MMS $0.0200 outbound and $0.0100 inbound on long codes and short codes, $0.0200 inbound on toll-free. Published volume ladder ran $0.0079 / $0.0077 / $0.0075 / $0.0073 / $0.0071 / $0.0069 across six tiers from the first 150,000 messages to above 1 million a month. Verizon long-code carrier fee $0.003 per outbound segment.

After

US SMS $0.0083 per segment outbound and inbound on long codes, toll-free and short codes; MMS $0.0220 outbound and $0.0165 inbound on long codes and short codes, $0.0200 inbound on toll-free. Published volume ladder rebased to $0.0083 / $0.0081 / $0.0079 / $0.0077 / $0.0075 / $0.0073 across the same six tiers. Verizon long-code carrier fee $0.004 per outbound segment.

Twilio’s US messaging list price moved for the second time in three years. The 7 May 2025 archived snapshot of twilio.com/en-us/sms/pricing/us still showed $0.0079 per SMS segment in both directions; the 12 June 2025 snapshot shows $0.0083 — a 5.1% increase applied identically to long codes, toll-free numbers and short codes.

The larger move is on picture messaging. MMS outbound rose from $0.0200 to $0.0220 (+10%), but MMS inbound on long codes and short codes rose from $0.0100 to $0.0165 — a 65% increase on a line that most senders never model because inbound MMS volume is small until a campaign goes wrong.

The automatic volume ladder moved with the list price rather than absorbing it: every one of the six published tiers rose by exactly $0.0004, so the top-of-ladder rate above 1 million messages a month went from $0.0069 to $0.0073 and the maximum published discount stayed at 12%. Verizon’s long-code carrier fee also rose from $0.003 to $0.004 per outbound segment in the same snapshot, so the all-in cost of a Verizon-terminated segment rose from $0.0119 to $0.0123.
